Tomas Cruz

Tomas G. Cruz of Uvalde passed away on October 2, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 89. He was born on December 30, 1928 in Zaragoza, Mexico, Coahuila to Anastacio Cruz and Maria Gonzalez.
He married Pabla Velasquez Cruz in Crystal City on November 17, 1957.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolina C. Bonds and husband Keith, of Detroit, Michigan; Alicia C. Contreras and husband, Fausto of Uvalde; Rosalinda C. Gonzales and husband, Max of Uvalde; Guadalupe C. Banks of San Antonio; Pabla Wickliff and husband, Patrick of Austin and Marta Cruz of San Antonio; sons, Anastacio Velasquez Cruz and wife, Christine of Lockhart and Tomas Cruz Jr. of Uvalde; sister, Virginia Cruz of Mexico City; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Andres Cruz; son in law, Vernon Banks; sisters, Urbana Balino and Consuelo Arizmendi, Sulema Cruz and Marta Cruz; and brothers, Simon Cruz, Jesus Cruz, Guadalupe Cruz, and Jose Cruz.
A rosary will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Bonds, Adelso Contreras, Michael Gonzales, Sarah Banks, Cierra Wickliff, Serene Nace, April Santiago, Josh Pesina, Anastacio Cruz, Jr. and Tomas Alexander Cruz.
