Tomasa Valdez

Tomasa J. Valdez of Batesville passed away on April 30, 2008 in St. Lukes Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 89. She was born on March 7, 1919 in Dalhart, Texas to Eddieneo and Jovita Jimenez. She is survived by eight daughters; Jovita Gomez of Lamesa, Tx.; Maria Garza, Paula Casarez and Rosa Rios all of Batesville, Tx.; Esperanza Guerrero of Austin, Tx.; Juana Garcia of San Angelo, Tx.; Gloria Valdez of Midland, Tx.; and Margarita Rios of Pearsall, Tx.; four sons; Florentino Valdez Jr. of Lamesa, Tx.; Jose Luis Valdez of Tahoka, Tx.; Juan Valdez and Rogelio Moreno Valdez both of Batesville, Tx.; two brothers; Emilio Jimenez of Hill Center, Tx.; and Julio Jimenez of Big Wells, Tx.; eighty grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Florentino Valdez Sr.; one son; Francisco Valdez; five sisters; Fela Jimenez, Juana Torres, Alcaria Narreso, Maria Gutierrez, and Ramona Cortez; three brothers; Vicente Jimenez, Pablo Jimenez and Ramon Jimenez. A prayer service will be held on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Templo La Hermosa in Batesville, Tx. with burial to follow in Batesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fernando Rios, Jose Luis Valdez Jr., Adan Hernandez, Roy Moreno Jr., Florentino Valdez Jr., John Casarez, Pete Frausto, and Benny Garcia.
