Valentine Val Adolph Sobieski, Jr. passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 83. Val was born April 3, 1929 to Valentine Adolph Sobieski, Sr. and Nora Marie Britz Sobieski. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in San Antonio. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from August 4, 1947 until his retirement March 13, 1987.
He married Mary Evelyn Little on August 19, 1950. They had three children Val Michael Sobieski, Kim Patrick Sobieski Sara Marie Sobieski. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Valeria Sobieski Noll son Mike. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, son Kim his wife Sandy of Cat Spring, Texas, daughter Sara of San Antonio, Texas. Grandson Cody Sobieski wife Kelly of Katy, Texas, Granddaughter Kandis Sobieski Krueger husband Ryan of Bellville, Texas. He is also survived by 5 Great Grandchildren, Jake Lilly Sobieski of Katy Kash, Kiley Kate Krueger of Bellville. He is also survived by several nieces nephews.
Val spent several years as a high school football basketball official as well as a baseball umpire. He was also a long time little league coach. Val Mary Evelyn enjoyed traveling have enjoyed cruises many driving vacations throughout the U.S. and Canada. One of their favorite vacations was a trip to Italy a few years ago. They also enjoyed going to the Telephone Pioneers Luncheons to visit catch up with good friends in the industry. He also enjoyed hunting. He always enjoyed spending time with family friends.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the RushingEstesKnowles Chapel. Cremation under the direction of RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary.
