Velma Bennett

Velma May Bennett of Uvalde passed away on January 16, 2010 in Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 91. She was born on January 21, 1918 in Wheatland, Wyoming to Carl P. and Anna Mae Lock Van Ortwick. She married D. Allen Bennett in Medford, Oregon on January 21, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by three daughters, Darlene K. Jones and husband, Frank of Utopia Edna Weed of Uvalde and Jean C,. Maris of Scottsdale, AZ 15 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren and greatgreatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents husband two sons, Richard Allen Bennett and Robert Lee Bennett two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Nazarene in Uvalde with burial to follow in Waresville Cemetery, Utopia, TX. Rev. Dwight Babcock will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Thomas Buchanan, Doug Thompson, Robert Jones, Richard Bennett, David Valencia, and Phillip Valencia.
