Vernon Darrell Maddoux, age 78, passed away on Friday December 29, 2023 at Northeast Methodist Hospital in Live Oak, Texas. He was born on November 19, 1945 in San Angelo to Bill and Jimmie Lou Maddoux.
Vernon is now reunited with his parents, Bill and Jimmie Lou; his sister, Charlotte Davenport and his brother in law, Lew Davenport II.
Vernon's life was a tapestry woven with love of the outdoors, especially his home place, his birds and his beloved dog, Sandy.
He is survived by his daughters, Vickie Ratliff and husband Scott of Brownwood Texas; Tracy Healer and husband Randy of Granbury Texas; by his grandchildren Courtney Moursund and husband Stephen of Dripping Springs, Texas, Rocky Gage and wife Marissa of Bastrop, Texas, Kelsie Ratliff of May, Texas, Kenzie Wilson and husband Byron of De Leon Texas, Makayla Davidson and husband Austin of San Angelo Texas and Chance Morris of Austin, Texas and
great grandchildren Madison and Morgan Moursund of Dripping Springs Texas and Cayson LaRoe and Boone Wilson of De Leon Texas.
Special niece and nephew Lisa Mansour and husband Brian of Richmond Texas and Tripp Davenport of Uvalde Texas, great niece and nephews Taryn Mansour of Richmond, Trevor Mansour of San Antonio and Austin Mansour of Dallas Texas were deeply cherished by Vernon.
Two special individuals, Dustin Pady and Chris Salinas, both of Uvalde, Texas, held a unique place in Vernon's life, providing companionship and support. A heartfelt thank you goes to Tristan at Northeast Methodist Hospital for the care and compassion shown during Vernon's final days.

A memorial service to celebrate Vernon's life will be held on January 20th at 3:00 pm at Rushing Estes Knowles Mortuary in Uvalde, Texas.
