Victoria Samarripa of California, formerly of Uvalde, passed away on January 7, 2020 in California at the age of 83. She was born on October 6, 1936 in San Antonio to Tomasa (Vela) and Severiano Gomez. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Gonzales and husband, Cristobal of California; son, Ruben Samarripa and wife, Debbie of Killeen; two sisters, Maria Zavala of Uvalde and Leticia Gomez-Salazar of San Antonio; grandchildren, Mario Gomez, Jr., Isabel Gomez, Yesenia Gomez, Sue Ann Montejo and husband, Jorge, Crystal Gomez, Joe Angel Gomez and wife, Jazmin, Kasandra Gomez, Manuel Gomez, Oscar Samarripa and wife, Melanie, Erica Samarripa, Christopher Gonzales, Nicholas Gonzales, and wife, Maria, and Celeste Samarripa; and great-grandchildren, Maliki Gomez, Yesenia Ontiveros, Roy Ontiveros, Ruben Ontiveros, Jeseray Rivas, Jevy Rivas, Jedidiah Rivas, Jesidiah Rivas, Anthony Gomez, Andres Montejo, Joe Gomez, Anna Jay Gomez, and Maiya Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose Samarripa; daughter, Annabell Gomez; twin sons, Jose and Jesus Samarripa; granddaughter, April Gomez; and great-grandson, Braden Gonzales. A rosary will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Oscar Samarripa, Erica Samarripa, Christopher Gonzales, Nicholas Gonzales, Celeste Samarripa, and Kasandra Gomez.
