Vieva (Odie) Cook of Eagle Pass, Texas returned to Our Heavenly Father on the Lord's Day of worship, November 6, 2016 in Round Rock, TX at the age of 92. She was born on June 1, 1924 in Altus, Oklahoma to Charles and America Price.
Vieva was a strong loving Christian woman who had a heart of gold and cared about all those who walked into her life. She was affectionately known as Mom, Granny Girl and Odie to her family and friends. She was the center piece at all family gatherings and holiday celebrations. She was the catalyst for bringing everyone together where her signature homemade rolls and chicken and dumplings always took center stage. She served the Eagle Pass community as a librarian at Austin Elementary School for many years, where she touched the hearts and minds of many young lives and was regarded in high esteem by all. As the daughter of a Baptist preacher, she had high Christian values that she instilled in all her children and grand babies. Her faith in Jesus Christ shined through her words and actions. She was the heart and soul of our family and will be deeply missed, but we look forward to the day when we see her again in Heaven.
Vieva was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Cook, parents Charles and America Price, brother Steve Price, sister Rubye Cook and grandson William Hardy Cook. She is survived by her brother Charles Price, sister Vernell Ham, and all 5 children: Paula Davis of Manor, TX, William Cook of San Antonio, TX, Nancy and husband Bernard Maurer of Eagle Pass, TX, Debbie Cook and husband Jim Goulding of Round Rock, TX, and Jackie and husband Roger Shaw of Abilene TX.
