Virginia Ann Davidson, affectionately known as Gen, 88, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, at her home in Batesville, Texas.
Gen was born October 28, 1935, in Crystal City, Texas to Roy Young Davidson and Sue Goodson Davidson. She was the middle child of three siblings. Gen graduated from Crystal City High School and went on to attend Texas A&I University and then returned home to a teaching career in Crystal City and Batesville, Texas.
Gen’s pride was in her school and students, and she shared her passion for learning and teaching with thousands of children over the years. Besides teaching she had an immense love for her horses and rodeo life. She spent many years as a volunteer for the Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club. After moving to Batesville in 2004, Gen maintained the First Baptist Church and the fellowship hall in Batesville, for more than 18 years. Those that were fortunate enough to know her, know that she was a beacon of unwavering friendship and kindness, and she has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on all of our hearts.
Gen is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Sue Davidson, sister Raye Dermody and brother-in-law Bernard Dermody. Gen is survived by her brother Roy Young “Bodie” Davidson (Randall), nieces Terry Brown (Glynn), Dixie Radicke (Herbert), Ranell Borders (Nowell); nephews Dean Dermody (Donna), Raine Hobbs (Natalie), Raice Davidson, numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
Her family invites all who cherished Gen to join us for a graveside service at Loma Vista Cemetery on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m, immediately followed by lunch and a ceremony of remembrance at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 168 Hwy 117 in Batesville, Texas; where we will share stories, laughter, and tears, just as she would have wished.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caretakers, Rosa Ojeda, Maria Ochoa and Perla Rios and to her dear friends that have loved and cared for her: Nancy Nava, Millie Pope, Stella Rios and Bennie Luna.
