Virginia King Daly Keller, 94, of Uvalde died on Feb. 25, 2018, at her residence.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1923, in Starks, Louisiana to Minerva (Burch) and Merwin King.
She graduated from Starks High School and went to work as a timekeeper at the shipyard in Orange, Texas, during WWII. There she met her future husband, Charles Daly of Uvalde. The couple married on Oct. 28, 1944, in Vinton, Louisiana. They later moved back to Uvalde, where he started a business with his brother, Ben Daly, called Daly Brothers Used Cars.
She was a homemaker until her brother-in-law, Dr. B.L. Priddy, moved his practice to Uvalde and hired her as a receptionist. She later went to work for the county as a secretary to Majorie Beth Guice, the County School Superintendent. Following that she was a Deputy District Clerk for Beulah Barber, and was later promoted to Chief Deputy by June Richardson. She continued her position under Lydia Steele, retiring in 1997, after 33 years.
After Daly's death in 1964, she married Herbert Keller on June 19, 1970, in Uvalde. Keller was an avid homemaker, and her family was the joy of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne Herndon of Flower Mound, and Mary Sue Laffere and husband, Don, of Uvalde; one sister, Pat Priddy-Holliday of Boerne; seven grandchildren, Tracy Berwick and husband, Bob, of Southlake, Rhonda Miller and husband, Tim, of Flower Mound, Megan Laffere of Uvalde, Craig Herndon and wife, Melissa, of Frisco, Deidre Laffere of San Marcos, Clint Laffere and wife, Erin, of San Antonio, and Emily Laffere and fiance, Tim Bailey, of Live Oak ; seven great-grandchildren, Blake Berwick, Brooke Berwick, Meredith Miller, Karenna Miller, Grant Miller, Grady Laffere and Molly Laffere; and six step-grandchildren, Denise Johnson, Teresa Powell, Terry McGee, Pat McGee, Mike McGee and John McGee, all of Iowa.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, Charles Daly and Herbert Keller; one brother, E.W. King ; and one sister, Betty Sue Niggli.
Pallbearers will be Don Laffere, Craig Herndon, Clint Laffere, Bob Berwick, Tim Miller and Blake Berwick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Perkins, Bill Mitchell, Gene Steele, Efrain Martinez and Hector Lara.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park, next to her husband, Charles Daly.
