Virginia Louise Osburn, age 89, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. Virginia was born on May 11, 1921 in Eagle Pass,to Paul and Louisa Etter Martin. On August 19, 1939 she married Lawrence Larry Osburn in Carrizo Springs. They were married 62 years and had two children, Arlene and Gerry. The family lived in Rocksprings for 15 years before moving to Uvalde in 1959. Virginia worked for the Uvalde School District in several school cafeterias. After retiring, Virginia and Lawrence traveled across the U.S. visiting family and friends. Virgina was a funloving, happy person who never met a stranger. She enjoyed life and will continue to live in her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Uvalde Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron in 198384. She also served as an Advisor for the Uvalde Chapter of the Order of the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Uvalde. Virginia loved her children and grandchildren very much and was fondly called Grannie by her family and their friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her siblings, John R. Martin, Frances Woods, and Pauline Youngren. She is survived by her children Arlene Leinweber and husband R.G of San Antonio, and Gerry Osburn and wife Georgia of Concan. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Sabinal Cemetery, Pastor Willis Adair officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of ones choice.
