Wanda Fern Ivy, loving Mother and Grandmom, went to be with her King on Monday morning, February 23, 2009 in Uvalde, TX at the age of 72. She was born in Dallas, but was a Corpus Christi resident for most of her life before retiring to Uvalde in 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Grace Hoggatt and a son, Bobby Don Ivy. She is survived by four siblings, Keteth Ken Cornelius, Ada Mike Martin, Dale Ginger Hoggatt, and Ronnie Linda Hoggatt; three daughters, Deborah Ramsey, Donna Wayne Webb, and Liz Gray; seven grandchildren, Holly Ortega, Katie Brad Hoover, Nicole Chris Holmes, Justin Ramsey, Leland Webb, Samantha Mark Tuley, and Bobby Jennings; six great-grandchildren, Conner Ortega, Tyler Swanson, RJ Ortega, Jacob Tuley, Joshua Tuley, and Addyson Tuley, and last but not least, her sweet puppy companion, Brindie Michelle. Wanda loved the simple things in life - family, shopping, and George Strait. She loved decorating for holidays and leaving goofy answering machine messages. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was actively involved at the Uvalde Adult Activity Center. She never met a stranger and was always eager to travel. Her kindness, friendliness, and silliness were apparent in her 26-year career as a nurse where she made so many friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at 12 noon at the Baptist Temple Church in Uvalde with burial to follow in the Rio Frio Cemetery. The family will be receiving visitors from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Rev. Tony Gruben will officiate. Pallbearers will be Al Hoggatt, Jake Hoggatt, Chris Holmes, Brad Hoover, Bobby Jennings, and Mark Tuley. Memorial donations may be made to the Uvalde Adult Activity Center, 250 E. Main St., Uvalde, TX 78801.
