William Herndon

William Louis Herndon of Uvalde passed away on March 30, 2013 in Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 89. He was born on June 26, 1923 in Kinney Co., TX to George Russell and Mamie Lacey Herndon. He married Mary Elizabeth Craig in Eagle Pass on April 19, 1947. He is survived by his wife of 66 years son, Robert Herndon and wife, Bonnie of Columbus, TX daughterinlaw, Anne Daly of Flower Mound, TX sister, Cleo Winn of Uvalde three brothers, Russell Herndon of Hondo and Elmer Herndon and Dick Herndon, both of Uvalde four grandchildren, Jason Herndon and wife, Nancy Holly Preston and husband, Trey Ashlie Schenkel and husband, Cody and Craig Herndon and wife, Melissa and three greatgrandchildren, Payton Armbrister Thomas Preston and Bronson Schenkel. He was preceded in death by his parents son, William Louis Lou Herndon II and brother, J.B. Herndon. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the RushingEstesKnowles Chapel with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Ray Melton will officiate. Pallbearers will be Hugh Coates, Kenneth Spence, Rafael Crispin, Cody Schenkel, Trey Preston, and Gary Mack.
