William Mcelroy

William Theodore Ted McElroy of Uvalde passed away on February 3, 2009 at his residence at the age of 91. He was born on October 6, 1917 in Oilton, Oklahoma. He married Esta Tennyson in Bentonville, Arkansas in 1939. He is survived by his wife, Esta McElroy of Uvalde; sons, Joe McElroy and wife, Charlotte of Corpus Christi; William Vann McElroy and wife, Gale of Uvalde; daughter-in-law, Donna McElroy of Houston; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Olmstead and husband, Michael; Leslie Bywater and husband, Dan; Joely Hendrix and husband, Stephen; Ashley Pattison and husband, Neil; William Vann McElroy, Jr.; Chad Austin McElroy; and Allison Elizabeth McElroy; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dale Alexander McElroy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Getty St. Church of Christ with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. King Burney will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ricky McNeil; Barrett Miller; H.T. Langford; Steve Cargil; Marvin Kolinek; Ken Garrett, Jr.; V.J. McElroy, Jr.; and Chad McElroy. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Knippa Church of Christ and Elders and Deacons of the Getty St. Church of Christ. The family will receive guests at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 10:00-11:30 AM. Memorial donations made be made to the Getty St. Church of Christ, 200 S. Getty St., Uvalde, TX 78801 or the Knippa Church of Christ, Knippa, Texas 78870.
