Willie Dean Mills of Uvalde passed away on July 31, 2009 at her residence at the age of 80. She was born on September 6, 1928 in Brownfield, Texas to Wray and Faye Simmons. She married Oliver Henry Mills on February 4, 1950 in Uvalde, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Oliver Mills of Uvalde, Texas; two daughters; Beverly Clark and husband, Allen of Denton, Texas; and Janet Mills of Uvalde, Texas; four sons; Preston Mills and wife, Sarah of San Antonio, Texas; Arthur Mills and wife, Linda of Cameron, Texas; Bryan Mills and wife, Mary of Uvalde, Texas; Mark Mills and wife, Mara of the Colony. Twenty four grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Walter Carvel Mills; and two brothers, Bobby Simmons and Shelby Simmons. Mrs. Mills was a devoted Christian, serving as a faithful member of the Baptist Temple. She had also served for 30 years at the Northside Baptist Church in Uvalde. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known in her Christian community as a strong prayer warrior. Her number one priority was her relationship with her Lord and her loving family. The family will greet friends from 7-9 PM on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Baptist Temple Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Tony Gruben will officiate. Pallbearers will be Manuel Mills, Jeff Mills, Chris Mills, James Mills, Mark Mills Jr., and Robert Mills. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Marsters, Alec Clark, and Ryan Kiney.
