Wilta Jean Reeves, 81, of Uvalde died Jan. 9, 2024 at her residence.
A graveside service will be held on January 12, at 10 am at Hillcrest Cemetery.
She was born on February 4, 1942, in Alice, Texas to Kate Frances (Owens) Whitman and William A. “Bill” Whitman.
She married Charles Lee Reeves on November 24, 1962, in Robstown, Texas.
She loved mission work and was always willing to serve wherever she felt God needed her. She was a Sunday school teacher, a God needed leader and camp director for 38 years. She served in her church WMU (Women’s Mission Union) and was involved with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief program to help others during natural disasters where she cooked and cleaned to feed the people. She would bring food and clothes to the children’s home in Mexico and in San Antonio. She was a substitute and them became a teacher for Uvalde Independent School District for over 9 years.
She was a caregiver for her mother for 10 years and for her husband for 3 years.
She will forever be loved and missed.
She is survived by her son Troy Reeves and wife Donna of Uvalde: daughter Holly Osten and husband, Chris, of Crystal Beach: six grandchildren, Amanda Reeves, Jennifer Osten, Katie Reeves, Troy Reeves Jr., Christopher Osten, and Stephanie Osten; there great-grandchildren Andre Osten, Layne Reeves and Cullen Osten.
She is preceded in death by her parents: her husband of 61 years; two sisters, Joyce Pavlicek and Pat Britt; nephew Terry Pavlicek; and niece Patricia Buckholt.
Family is requesting donations be made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
