Mammaw’s Obituary
Dorothy Olga Cauble died on August 22, 2022 at 101 years old. She was born to Olga and Allan Hill on February 15, 1921, in Gibtown, Texas. Dorothy was the youngest of eight siblings. She graduated from high school in Throckmorton, Texas. On October 2, 1939, she married her life long partner of 62 years, JD Cauble in Big Spring, Texas. Dorothy was an active volunteer at the YMCA and her church. She was an avid bridge player, and did a daily 3 mile walk around Signal Mountain.
In 1995, Dorothy and JD moved to Uvalde to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She very quickly became friends with everyone she met. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, played and taught bridge at the Herby Ham Senior Center, was a regular member of the Thursday night gathering at the Uvalde Country Club, did her exercise routine 5 days a week at Curves and later, the Herby Ham Senior Center. She famously gave kisses to everyone in the room when the Cowboys scored. She drove until her 99th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Tindol and husband, Bill of Uvalde and Terry Carpenter and husband, Bob of Melbourne, Florida, 4 grandchildren, Kelley Kimble and husband, Travis of Uvalde, David Tindol and wife, Tamara of Dripping Springs, Bryan Hester and wife, Terri of Decatur and Kim Ball and husband, Erik of Roswell, Georgia. She also had ten great grandchildren: Mike Fitzpatrick and wife, Summer, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kathryn Fitzpatrick and husband, Aldo Otero, Nick Tindol, Natalie Tindol, Hanna Tindol, Madeline Hester, Toby Hester, Maggie Ball and Charlie Ball as well as three great great grandchildren, Riley, James and Sophia Fitzpatrick.
Our Mammaw was the source of many family traditions, most notably, going to extended lengths to say “Christmas Eve Gift” to all the family at the strike of midnight on Christmas Eve. She leaves a legacy of positive attitude and love for so many, and she was a friend to all. Services are set for October 15 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Uvalde.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church or to Uvalde Hospice.
